Building a sump

So I will be building a sump for my future pond of about 700 gallons.

I want to do the kind that sits higher than the pond and has a pump bringing water into it, and gravity to put water back into the pond. Anybody have any detailed information on how to build one?

I will also be using aquaponics in the sump as well.
